The week in review

by Richard Perkins

Hello again from the virtual desk of the virtual author.

Last week was not particularly productive. I managed to finish a first draft of Chapter 12 Scene 8, but there is at least one more scene to complete in the chapter according to my outline. I may decide later to break this chapter up: nine scenes would be my longest single chapter so far.

I also picked up my first regular reader last week! A big shout out to Dan, who has been zooming through the posts and gave me some very useful feedback over the weekend. I’ve posted four new scenes from Chapter 5 in the writer’s lair now. Pretty soon the posts will be caught up with the draft chapters I’m still writing! Yikes!

My professional development did not advance very far last week either. I did have a first round interview with another solar start-up company last week. They’re a thin film PV module developer, growing by leaps and bounds in the last few years, so working with them would be pretty cool. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

We also got a chance to visit with some friends from college that we haven’t seen since we moved out to Australia a couple of years ago. We took a (very) short trip out to Franklin, TN for Chris and Kate’s wedding and got to visit with Dan, Sarah, Max, Theo, Beej and Susan too!

This week it’s back to the grind: pounding the pavement looking for job leads and writing on the side.
