Ahh the frustrations of blog design!

by Richard Perkins

I’ve been working on this new site for over a week now, in the hopes that when it’s done it will help me find a few readers and reviewers for my story. But…
…I’ve spent most of that time working on the site. I’ve only written a few paragraphs of the actual story which is still waiting to be finished.

Hence the first lesson about balancing time and not losing sight of the objective. While thinking about my abysmal lack of progress on the book, and surfing for inspiration, I came across this “rant” on fantasy author Robin Hobb’s website. She warns about the insidious danger that LiveJournal poses to new authors, turning them into “the Living Dead of the writing world.” She warns the young author, “Resist the siren call. Don’t blog. Write.”

I think I will follow the advice of an author far more accomplished than I ever hope to be. The journal will have to wait.
